Quebecor extends telework for its employees until the end of the year
Montréal, August 26, 2020 – Putting the health and safety of its employees, their families and the public first, Quebecor has decided to have employees who can work from home with no loss of effectiveness continue teleworking until the end of the year. Quebecor is therefore extending the teleworking arrangements introduced at all of its subsidiaries in March. Quebecor continues to closely monitor developments. It will reassess the situation as appropriate and adjust its practices accordingly, in line with the guidance from public health.
Supporting the collective effort
The Quebecor family is keenly aware of its responsibilities in this situation and has shown solidarity since the beginning of the pandemic by implementing an array of initiatives to support its employees, customers and partners. For example, Quebecor has assisted Food Banks of Québec, in cooperation with the Fondation Chopin-Péladeau. It distributed more than 1,000 Videotron mobile devices to the Centre hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal, youth rehabilitation centres and long-term care facilities. The show Une chance qu'on s'a, which aired on TVA and Télé-Québec in collaboration with the Government of Québec, raised $2 million for SOS Violence conjugale and Les Petits Frères. Videotron was the first to remove data caps on all residential and business Internet plans and cancelled roaming charges abroad. TVA unscrambled its all-news channel LCN and its youth channel Yoopa. Finally, in a show of loyalty and gratitude to its temporarily laid-off employees, Quebecor set up a $500,000 emergency fund and introduced financial assistance and support measures providing up to 95% of salary in some cases.
